Andrei graduated in 1988 from the Saint Petersburg Academy of Arts.

In 2022, he was bestowed the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, followed by his election as an Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts in 2024.

He has served as Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists since 2018, and since 2019, he has held the position of Secretary of the Russian Union of Artists for Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast.
