Andrei was born in Saratov. In 1988, he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (the Monumental Painting Workshop under the guidance of Professor A.A. Mylnikov). In 2022, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, and in 2024, he became an academician of the Russian Academy of Arts. 

Since 2018, he has served as the Chairman of the Saint - Petersburg Union of Artists. he has been the Secretary of the Secretariat of the Russian Union of Artists in Saint - Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast since 2019.
