Zheng graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of Fine Arts. In 1985, he joined Ran Maoqin’s studio. In 1989, he furthered his studies at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, and in 1991, he attended an advanced training course in oil painting at the Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1991.

Since 1995, Zheng has held multiple solo exhibitions in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. The representative work Dragonfly was selected for the annual exhibition of the Charriol Foundation in 1997.

In the 2000s, he was actively involved in art exchanges between the two places and participated in important exhibitions such as the “Beijing - Hong Kong Oil Painting Exhibition” and the “Hong Kong and Macao Exhibition Area of the National Art Exhibition”
